THE BOOKS

GUARDIAN

At sixteen years of age, Elex Vains discovered he had the ability to conjure a mystical golden fire from nothing but strong feelings. As a teen, he saw this as a power that he could finally use against those that had been hurting him his entire life. However, as the years have passed, he has since realized the gift is more of an unpredictable curse as his power often manifests itself during moments of anger and fear, destroying things around him as he’s usually powerless to control it. Recently, a strange and almost monstrous voice has also awakened within him, attempting to manipulate him to do its desires.

Five years later, Elex is no closer to the answers he seeks. What’s worse, now others with similar powers have begun seeking him out, all attempting to destroy him. With no idea of what he is – or what transmutes within him – Elex finally makes the decision to retreat from his luxurious lifestyle, friends and family for fear of what the collateral damage could do to them, and in an attempt to unravel the mystery of his super-human abilities. With the recently added assistance of a nurturing and wise individual – who also boasts unique powers – Elex embarks on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery that reveals a hidden world of untold truths he never imagined.

Guardian is the first book in the LX Vains fantasy fiction series, the beginning of the story of Elex as he plunges headlong into a new world, filled with new rules, new friends, and a multitude of foes.

ARCHANGEL

Having left everything he loves - and wants to protect - behind, Elex has been summoned to Rome by his Guardian to begin his formal angelic training. However, much to the young native angel's frustration, his quest is impeded at every turn and from every side. Starting with an ambush en route to Italy by a strike team, Elex stumbles across the influence of an infamous, mystery-shrouded, and elite group of angels known as the Archangels. Hoping to learn more of the group, as they seem very interested in him, Elex is relieved to finally arrive at the Vatican and be back in the company of Winston along with David, another Guardian of exceptional wisdom. But the unique and uncharacteristically powerful nature of his abilities is troublesome to the Council of Enoch, and his training is forbidden until the truth behind his gifts is unraveled.

Desperately seeking answers and seemingly abandoned - yet again - by the angels, Elex begins to follow his own whims. Happenstance takes him from battle to battle - from Rome, to Monaco and to the Atacama Desert in Chile - and to more facts, individuals, revelations, and aspects of the angelic world than his inexperienced mind can handle. All the while, the apocryphal legends of the Archangels keep entering his mind as he wonders who they are, if they exist, and what they might want with him.

The second book in the LX Vains Series, Archangel follows Elex as he searches for guidance, assistance and truth about who he is and why he is so different in the celestial universe.
